Personal Interests:
Dr Peter Gilmore is a lifelong sporting enthusiast and advocate for the health benefits of exercise at every level, regardless of ability. He aims to keep his patients active and enjoying life to the fullest, wherever their interests may lie.
Peter grew up on the northern beaches of Sydney where he played representative basketball and rugby, culminating in representing Australia at rugby against New Zealand under 18s. After leaving school Peter completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney whilst training with the NSW Waratahs Rugby Team and representing Manly in Sydney’s prestigious Shute Shield rugby competition.
After moving to Perth to study medicine at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle, Peter underwent training in plastic and orthopaedic surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner, Fiona Stanley and Royal Perth Hospitals. It was during this time he gained a greater appreciation of exercise as medicine and so pivoted to undertake his specialist training in Sports Medicine.
Today Peter’s personal interests have expanded to include endurance sports. He is a committed Park Runner and enjoys running and hiking in preparation for his next half-marathon.
